Buchanan K-1 Center
In kindergarten right now, we are very busy working on ABC boot camp. This program was created and developed by Greg Smedley. This teaches our kindergarteners the 26 letters and sounds in 26 days. The components of boot camp are circle maps, handwriting pages, crowns (silly hats), and letter work.
We are also focusing on social skills such as learning to listen, following directions, walking in the hallway, being friends with others, as well as sharing and playing with others. These are very important skills to learn and grow in kindergarten.

In Mrs. Perry’s Language Arts 11 class, students prepare to dive into the world of Arthur Miller’s, “The Crucible.”
The classic play is set against the backdrop of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Students are traveling on a literary journey that will challenge their critical thinking skills, historical understanding, and empathy.
In addition, these students will complete a CSI-style investigation to determine what actually transpired in Salem, Massachusetts.
As they commence on their CSI investigation of Salem, these students are not just learning about history; they are becoming historians, writers, and critical thinkers.
