S.D. State Fair makes first concert announcement for 2024 fair

HURON — The South Dakota State Fair and Pioneer are excited to welcome country music star Riley Green to the S.D. State Fair Grandstand on Saturday, Aug. 31.

After being named the Academy of Country Music’s 2020 New Male Artist of the Year, a former MusicRow Breakout Artist of the Year, and a CMT “Listen Up Artist,” Green has been riding a wave of success.

This year he’s played to an average of 65,000 fans each night, serving as direct support for Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs and is also selling out his own headlining shows.

Combs joins Green on his second number one single “Different ‘Round Here (Ft. Luke Combs),” the title track to Riley’s 2019 debut album.

His songs like the No. 1 platinum hit “There Was This Girl,” the 2-time platinum-certified heart-tugger “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” (which he performed live at the 55th ACM Awards), and his chart-topping collab with Thomas Rhett, “Half of Me,” have made Riley synonymous with what country music does best: making listeners feel something with his no-gimmick, relatable writing and classic feel.

“We’re excited to welcome Riley Green to the grandstand stage,” says Peggy Besch, S.D. State Fairgrounds Manager. “Bringing this chart-topping entertainment to the fair raises the excitement level, and we’re always happy to bring the fans what they’re asking for.”

Presales begin on May 28 for VIP Tables sales, followed by June 10 for Backrest Holders, June 12 for Friends of the Fair, and general public sales on June 17. Pricing and ticket information can be found at www.sdstatefair.com
