SDBCA All-Star game held in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS — Navy rallied in the second half to secure a 114-110 victory against White during the boys’ game in the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games on Friday at the Pentagon.

The White team led 30-21 after the opening quarter and carried a 58-50 lead into the second half.

Jacoby Mehrman of Harrisburg had 23 points to lead five players in double figures for the Navy. Tage Ortman of Canistota and Daniel Mitchell of Gregory each had 17 points, while Gavin Soukup of Mitchell and Alec Squires of Sioux Valley each had 14 points.

Braeden VanBockern of Harrisburg had a game-high 26 points to lead the White team.

Jaxson Wingert of Dakota Valley had 20 points, while Jackson Schauer Faith had 13 points. Porter Ehnen of Lennox, Tyson Stevenson of Hamlin and Kolt Koepsell of Howard all had 11 points.

George Jensen of De Smet finished with three points.

Girls

Navy 86, White 74
Navy pulled away in the final quarter to secure an 86-74 victory against White in the girls’ game of the South Dakota Basketball Coaches All-Star Games on Friday at the Pentagon.

Both teams scored 35 points in the opening half before Navy held a 55-54 advantage after three quarters of play. Using a 29-20 run in the fourth quarter, Navy secured the victory.

Caylin Kelly of Florence/Henry led the way for Navy with 17 points. Also reaching double figures were Claire Sheppard of Flandreau with 12 points and Mahli Abdouch of O’Gorman with 11 points.

Abby Flanagan of Harrisburg finished with nine points for Navy, while Courtney Sees of Avon, Mara Grant of Tea Area, and Megan Reiner of Tripp-Delmont/Armour each had eight points.
Emilee Fox of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton had 17 points to lead four players in double figures for White. Katie Vasecka of Tea Area and Avery Orth of Wessington Springs each had 12 points, while Paige Kjerstad of Wall had 10 points.

Lily Klein of Flandreau and Abby Aslesen of Howard had eight and seven points, respectively, for White. Hamtyn Heinz of Huron had three points.
