Sioux Falls East sweeps Huron 13U

HURON – The Huron 13U Tigers dropped a pair to Sioux Falls Post 15 East on Tuesday by the scores of 12-3 and 15-5.

Huron was able to play back and forth with Post 15 through the first three innings of the opener, with the score 3-3 after three, but East posted nine runs between the fourth and fifth innings to come away with the 12-3 victory.

Blaise Simon opened the game on the bump, going four innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and six walks, striking out two. Carter Porisch completed the game with an inning, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks, striking out one.

Josh Gilbert and Jimmie Martin were the lone Huron hitters to reach base twice. Gilbert had a single and a walk while Martin had a single and was hit by pitch.

Tyce Huber had a double and a stolen base. Colt Culver added a stolen base.

Sioux Falls came out big early in the second game, scoring 12 runs in the first two innings en route to a 15-5 win.

Sean Janes got the start for Huron, lasting one inning, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks, striking out two. Martin relieved him in the second inning, but could only get two outs before allowing six runs on three hits and three walks. Huber got the final out of the inning after allowing an unearned run.

Gilbert tossed the final two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk, striking out one.

Porisch, Gilbert, and Quincy Rashaad each had a double. Porisch and Martin each had a pair of stolen bases while Simon added one steal.

The Huron 13U team (5-21-1) will be part of the Bob Deery Classic in Yankton this weekend.
