HURON — After both teams scored a pair of goals in the opening period, Sioux Falls West used three unanswered goals during the next two periods for a 5-2 win against the Huron All-Stars on Friday in the regular season finale at Bergman Arena.

Sioux Falls got on the board first with a goal by Mason Schramm with 8:41 off the clock in the opening period. Hudson Bergeson and Xavier Higgins assisted on the play.

The lead for the Flyers didn’t last long, as Ethan Busch found the net for Huron just 23 seconds later on a pass from Grady Bott.

Jack Campbell regained the advantage for Sioux Falls just over four minutes later, scoring on a pass from Keegan Clancy.

The 2-1 lead for the Flyers evaporated, when Bott found the net on a pass from Busch in the final minute of the first period.

The game would then go scoreless until the final minute of the second period, when Schramm scored his second goal for Sioux Falls on a pass from Alex Heibult.

Schramm earned the hat trick for the Flyers with his third goal of the game on a power play to cap the scoring. Carson Sarahan was credited with the assist.

Scoring the first goal of the final period for Sioux Falls was Ashton Eining on a pass from Spencer Charron.

Easton Mescher stopped 20 of the 22 shots he face in the net for the Flyers to earn the win.

Jack Bales faced 48 shots and turned away 43 of them for the All-Stars, who ended the season at 5-17.

Sioux Falls West improved to 16-5 and will be the third seed for the State Varsity Boys’ Hockey Tounament, which is March 8-10 in Brookings.
