DE SMET — Sioux Valley won the team title in both the boys’ and girls’ division at the De Smet Invite on Thursday.
The Cossacks amassed 140.85 points to claim the boys’ title, while De Smet was second at 86.
Rounding out the top five in the boys’ standings were James Valley Christian at 60, Sunshine Bible Academy at 50 and Northwestern at 40.35.
Sioux Valley finished with 118.53 points to win the girls’ title over Clark/Willow Lake, which finished at 94.33. De Smet was third at 78.2, followed by Wolsey-Wessington at 67.53 and Howard at 63.

Spartans participate in Wagner Invitational
WAGNER –– The Wessington Springs Spartans boys’ and girls’ track and field teams participated in Tuesday’s Wagner Invitational.
Elk Point-Jefferson won the girls’ team title with 112 points. The Spartans finished with 26 points.
Gregory edged out Wagner 92-82 for the boys’ title. Springs posted 35 team points.
For the girls, Bailey Yost placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles. Alexis Roesler finished fourth and Ella Kolousek finished seventh in the 3200-meter run, and Anna Arhart placed fourth in the shot put.
The Springs girls’ relay teams finished second in the medley relay, third in the 4x200 and fifth in the 4x400.
The boys were led by Colby Flowers with a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and a sixth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Ryder Michalek was the lone other individual place-winner for the Spartans, with a third-place leap in the high jump.
The Springs boys’ relay teams placed four, led by a second-place finish in the 4x800. The medley and 4x400 relays each placed third and the 4x200 relay finished fourth for Wessington Springs.
Bulldogs, Patriots compete in Brace-Hopfinger Relays

VOLGA –– The host Sioux Valley Cossacks swept the team titles at Tuesday’s Brace-Hopfinger Relays.
The Sioux Valley girls amassed 145.5 team points for the title. The second through fourth place teams were separated by five team points, with Flandreau (129) second, Madison (126) third, and De Smet (124) fourth.
Hitchcock-Tulare was fifth with 85 team points.
The Cossack boys edged Elkton-Lake Benton 134-126 for the team title.
De Smet finished with 49 points and the Patriots finished with 41 points.
Individual winners from Hitchcock-Tulare included Logan LaBrie in the boys’ 200-meter dash, Katelyn Schroeder in the girls’ javelin, and Emma Schneider in the girls’ long jump. The Patriots also won the girls’ 4x100-meter relay.
Ivey Schoenfelder and Audi Currier continued a patter on the year for De Smet, taking first and second place in the shot put and discus, but trading who won each event, with Schoenfelder winning the shot put and Currier winning discus. Charli McCune took the 300-meter hurdles title.
