Blackhawks and Cyclones place players on 11B team

HURON — The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks placed two players on the Class 11B All-State team and three on the honorable mention while Clark/Willow Lake had one All-State selection.
The Blackhawks were represented by senior wide receiver Ryder Michalek and senior Holden Havlik, selected as an athlete. Colby Flowers, Hunter Fenske, and Bryce Larson each were selected as honorable mention for the Blackhawks.
Senior defensive lineman Josh Kannegieter represented the Cyclones on the All-State team.
State champion Winner was represented by four All-State selections along with one honorable mention, while runner-up Sioux Valley placed seven on the All-State squad.
The Warriors were represented by Gus Bartels at tight end, Karson Keiser at running back, Evan Bartels on the offensive line, and Shawn Hammerbeck on the defensive line, all seniors. Kellen Brozik was recognized as an honorable mention. The Cossacks placed senior running back Donavan Rose, junior tight end Tobin Squires, senior offensive lineman Luke Lembcke, junior defensive lineman Preston Top, senior linebacker Brock Christopherson, senior defensive back Jakob Guthmiller, and special teams senior Jameson Degen all on the All-State team.
Filling out the 11B All-State offense were senior quarterback Keaton Gale, senior tight end Ashton Fairbanks, and senior offensive lineman Hudson Kempf of Elk Point-Jefferson. Senior running back Brady Fox of Mount Vernon/Plankinson, Deuel senior wide receiver Gabe Sather, Beresford junior Malachi James, Bridgewater-Emery-Ethan senior lineman Jason Zeeb, Wagner senior lineman Parker Petry, Hot Springs senior lineman Aidyn Janis, and Mobridge-Pollock senior athlete Jackson Eisemann.
On the defensive squad were senior Zane Backous and senior Aiden Fisher of Aberdeen Roncalli, senior defensive lineman Gabe Reeve of St. Thomas More, senior linebacker Lane Deutsch of McCook Central/Montrose, Wagner junior linebacker Gannon Knebel, Flandreau senior defensive back Paul Parsley, senior defensive back Isaiah Olson of Mount Vernon/Plankinton, and senior defensive back Grayson Girard of Elk Point-Jefferson.
Along with the three Blackhawks on the honorable mention list were Mobridge-Pollock’s Mack Saxon and Carter Hinsz, Elk Point-Jefferson’s Luke Schmitz, Beresford’s Cooper Nelson, Aberdeen Roncalli’s Noah Kramer, Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Riley Mayer, and Lead-Deadwood’s Connor Harrison.
Winner’s Hammerbeck was selected as the top player in Class 11B.
