Recent graduation in Pierre recognizes three local officers

PIERRE — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley honored 48 graduates from Basic Law Enforcement training on Friday, Nov. 15, at the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Center in Pierre.
The 48 recruits represented 34 different state and local law enforcement agencies.
They completed 13 weeks and 52 hours of course work. Any officer seeking to become a fully-qualified law enforcement officer in the state of South Dakota is required to take this course.
Three Huron area recruits were part of the 193rd Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course - Keith Fitzgerald of the Beadle County Sheriff’s Office as well as Rebekah Htoo and Pywe Moo of the Huron Police Department.
Graduates are required to complete course work that includes instruction in the law, arrest control tactics, firearm safety, vehicle handling, and criminal investigations.
These courses are taught by full-time staff from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and other adjunct instructors from law enforcement agencies across the state.
