HURON — The 2023-2024 Huron High School Tiger Stripes newspaper had a terrific showing in the recent South Daktoa High School Acitivites Association journalism contest.
The overall paper (writing, design, and photography) placed 3rd in the state, with the staff receiving a superior newspaper award.
In addition, individual writers received awards:
HHS senior AnneClaire Rubish received two Superiors, one for general newswriting and one for sports writing, tying for 5th and 6th place in the state.
HHS senior Emma Ahlers received a Superior in general newswriting, tying for 7th, and she received an Excellent in editorial writing, placing 13th.
HHS alumnus Connner Johnson received an Excellent for feature writing, tying for 12th in the state.
HHS seniors Logan Gerrits, Lily Halter , and Cadence Kogel received Excellents for general newswriting, editorial writing, and feature writing respectively, tying for 13th in the state.
HHS alumni Okay Htoo and Gavin Moeding received Excellents in sports writing, and Kolton Ogle received an Excellent in feature writing.
