HURON – After struggling during much of the 2024 regular season, the Huron 13/14U Tigers closed out the season on a high note, following up a sweep of Pierre on Saturday with a sweep Sunday of the Aberdeen Smittys at Klock Field by scores of 5-4 and 11-0.

Aberdeen came out of the gate strong, scoring a pair of runs on Huron starting pitcher Colt Culver. The Tigers opened the bottom of the first with a single from leadoff hitter Jimmie Martin. Martin would steal second with Joshua Gilbert at the plate before Gilbert walked.

Parker Bischoff singled to load the bases. A single from Culver drove in Martin and Gilbert. Bischoff moved to third and Culver moved to second on a wild pitch while Noah Koops was at the plate. After a Koops pop out to the pitcher, Bischoff scored on a wild pitch on the first pitch of the following at bat, giving Huron a 3-2. The Tigers would never give the lead back, winning 5-4.

Culver went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits and six walks, striking out four.

Bischoff had three singles and stole a base. Rashaad had a single and a walk while also stealing a base. Gilbert and Ernest Wallette each walked twice. Gilbert added a steal.

Sean Janes had a single and was hit by pitch. Martin added a steal.

The Tiger team was firing on all cylinders in the second game, as Huron scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and kept Aberdeen off the scoreboard, defeating the Smittys 11-0 in the nightcap.

Gilbert went four scoreless innings, allowing six hits and walking none. He struck out two Smittys hitters.

Gilbert had a triple and a double. Rashaad had three singles and stole a base.

Bischoff had a single and a walk while Jayden Ryman had a single and was hit by pitch.
