HURON — The Huron boys’ tennis team emerged with a split during a triangular to open the season on Saturday at Huron Courts.

Watertown cruised to an 8-1 victory against the Tigers in the opening match, before they rebounded for a 7-2 victory against Pierre.

“The boys played well today considering the elements. The wind really had an impact on all the players,” Huron coach Tim Hedblom said. “Overall, I feel we played well for our first matches of the season.

Hser Wah in No. 4 singles came up with the only win for the Tigers against the Arrows.

Five of the six singles players won matches for Huron against Pierre. The Tigers also claimed a pair of doubles victories.

“Dah Moo/Maner Htoo picked up a good win at flight 1 doubles and  Matthew Thin/Say Poe teamed up for a good win at flight 3 doubles,” Hedblom said. “Lah Doh Soe battled back to earn the victory at flight 3 singles.”

Huron returns to action today, with a double dual against Harrisburg and Tea. The opening match will begin at 11 a.m., at Huron Courts.
