HURON –– The Huron Tigers boys tennis opened the 2025 season with a split in a triangular against Watertown and Pierre on Saturday at Huron Tennis Courts.
Watertown handled Huron, 8-1, in the first match, with a win at No. 4 singles by Maner Htoo the lone victory over Xane Fligge.
Huron was able to sweep all three doubles matches against Pierre to key a 7-2 victory. Htoo got his second victory of the day in No. 4 singles then joined with Matthew Thin to score a win in No. 1 doubles.
Huron coach Tim Hedbloom summed up the day.
“I felt our nerves showed against Watertown. We came out and played well, but we were just unable to finish the matches.” Hedbloom said. “I thought we played composed against Pierre. We were able to pick up a good team win and quality conference and class wins.”
The Tigers are back in action today in Harrisburg.
