Volleyball 2023 playoff pairings set

Area volleyball teams completed the regular season Tuesday and matchups for regional play to begin the postseason have been announced.

Redfield (10-16) claimed the fifth seed in Region 1A and will travel to play Sisseton Tuesday.
Clark/Willow Lake (10-14) will host Deuel Monday in a play-in game in Region 2A, with the winner headed to play top seed Hamlin Tuesday.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (12-15) has the seventh seed in Region 5A and will travel to second-seeded Wagner Tuesday.

Miller (25-6) claimed the top seed in Region 6A and will host McLaughlin Tuesday at 6 p.m.

In Class B, Hitchcock-Tulare finished the season 22-7, earning the third seed in Region 1B. The Lady Patriots will host Langford Area Tuesday.

Much of the Heartland’s teams are in Region 2B. Wolsey-Wessington (26-4) holds the top seed in the region and will host De Smet (4-23) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, James Valley Christian clinched the third seed with a 15-10 record and will host Iroquois/Lake Preston (12-15) Tuesday.

Wessington Springs will be the third seed in Region 5B after going 17-13 in the regular season. The Lady Spartans will host Tripp-Delmont/Armour Tuesday.

Two Heartland teams will play in Region 6B, as Sunshine Bible Academy (2-22) will travel to Lower Brule in a play-in game on Monday. The winner will travel to top seed Faulkton Area Tuesday. Highmore-Harrold earned the fifth seed with a 12-16 record and will travel to Lyman Tuesday.

Winners in regional matchups on Tuesday will go on to play Thursday in region semifinals for the right to play in the SoDak 16, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 7.
