WOLSEY — After a resounding 56-28 victory over the Dupree Tigers on Thursday, the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds advance to a Class 9A semifinal showdown with top-seeded Wall on Friday in Wall, with kickoff slated for 5 p.m. Mountain/6 p.m. Central.

The Warbirds are the lone team with a loss in the final four of the Class 9A bracket, as Wall is undefeated, and both teams in the other semifinal, Howard and Warner, have identical 10-0 records. Warner will look to repeat as champions.

Class 11AAA
Top-seeded Brandon Valley defeated Sioux Falls Washington Thursday to advance to a semifinal matchup with fourth seed Sioux Falls Jefferson Friday.

Sioux Falls Lincoln and Harrisburg both had resounding victories to earn a semifinal match at Howard Wood Field on Friday. Lincoln is the defending 11AAA champion.

Class 11AA
Top seed Yankton will host seven-time defending champion Pierre in a semifinal matchup that is a rematch of last season’s title game for the level.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Watertown, off their 35-0 victory over Huron in the quarterfinals, will host Brookings.

Class 11A

Undefeated and top-ranked Sioux Falls Christian will host defending state runner-up West Central in one semifinal, while defending 11A champion Dell Rapids will host Lennox for the opportunity to head to the championship game.

Dell Rapids and West Central have met in the past two Class 11A championship games.

Class 11B
St. Thomas More scored their second upset victory of the Class 11B playoffs with a 38-34 victory over Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on Thursday. That sets up the 11th-seeded Cavaliers for a semifinal road matchup with the 10-0 Winner Warriors, fresh off a shutout 44-0 win over Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central.

Elk Point-Jefferson is looking to return to the state title game in 11B after falling to Hot Springs in 2023, but they will have to defeat top-seed Sioux Valley to do so.

Class 9AA
Top-seeded and undefeated Parkston rolled to a 40-6 quarterfinal win over Leola/Frederick Area to set up a semifinal matchup with Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy to get to the title game and defend their 2023 title.

Hamlin and Elkton-Lake Benton will meet in Hamlin on the other side of the bracket, after Hamlin defeated the Elks 40-35 on Oct. 18.

Class 9B

Upsets were the order of the day in Class 9B on Thursday. Top-seeded defending champion Avon was upset by 8-seed Canistota Thursday, setting up a semifinal matchup between Canistota and fifth seed Sully Buttes.

On the other side of the bracket, Faulkton Area looks to return to the title game as they battle perennial power St. Mary’s.

All winners in 9-man and 11-man classes will advance to state championship games at the DakotaDome in Vermillion to be held Nov. 14-16.

All Nations
Semifinals for the two All-Nations classes will be completed Friday, as undefeated Lower Brule hosted Crazy Horse in one “B” semifinal and White River visited Omaha Nation in the other semifinal.

In the “A” semifinals, held Friday, Winnebago hosted Little Wound on one side of the bracket, with Mahpiya Luta visiting Pine Ridge on the other side of the semifinal bracket after upsetting Todd County in the opening round.

The winners in the All Nations classes will hold their championship games on Nov. 8 at the Dakota Dome.
