Watertown golfers win title at Huron Invitational

HURON — With two of the top three golfers, Watertown claimed the title during the Huron Invitational on Friday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.

The Arrows finished at 296 to edge O’Gorman for the team title by three strokes. Harrisburg was third in the 13-team event with a 305, followed by Pierre at 306 and Brandon Valley at 320.

Huron, which had one the younger teams in the field, was 13th at 434.

Jake Olson shot a 5-under-par 67 to turn in the low round on Friday and claim the medalist honors. Kaden Rylance was third for the Arrows at 73, while Jerome Zebroski finished tied for 12th at 76 and Gabe Norberg shared the 23rd spot with an 80.

Taten Mauney was second for O’Gorman with a 71. Sayer Sonneschein of Pierre, Carter Peterson of Brandon Valley and Jackson Swartz of Rapid City Stevens shared the fourth spot with scores of 74.

Aiden Zavesky was the top golfer for Huron, finished at 86, which placed him in a tie for spot No. 43.

Rounding out the roster for the Tigers were Riley Jankord at 115, Kolton Ogle at 118, Emrick Dedeyne at 120 and Matthew Olson at 133.

The Huron golfers will be back in action Tuesday at the Hub City Invitational at Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen.
