HURON — The Wessington Springs boys and the Wolsey-Wessington girls won the 281 Conference track titles Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.

The Spartans won four of the five relays en route to the boys’ title.

They finished with 141 points to edge Sunshine Bible Academy, which had 135.5 in the final standings.

James Valley Christian was third at 128, which put them a point ahead of Wolsey-Wessington.

Karter Mebius also won the 400-meter race for Wessington Springs, while Ryder Michalek was the top finisher in the high jump.

Logan LaBrie won the 100 and 200 races for Hitchcock-Tulare and was one of three boys to have multiple wins. Kaden Ober of James Valley Christian won the 1,600 and 3,200 races, while Colin Hughes of Wolsey-Wessington won the shot put and discus.

Wolsey-Wessington amassed 185 points to wine the girls’ title, while Hitchcock-Tulare was second at 160. Rounding out the top have of the 8-team field were Wessington Springs at 97 and James Valley Christian at 85.

Kendal Uttecht won the 400 and 800 races for the Lady Warbirds, who also brought home te win in the 800 relay.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Liz Boschee was a 3-time conference champion. She won the 100 hurdles, javelin and high jump events.

The girls’ division also featured three other multiple event winners. Emma Schneider of Hitchcock-Tulare won the long jump and triple jump; Hadlee Holt of Iroquois/Lake Preston won the shot put and discus; and Hadasah Olson of James Valley Christian won the 1,600 and 3,200 races.
