YANKTON –– The Yankton Bucks took a pair of games Thursday over the Huron Tigers by scores of 5-3 and 10-0 in Yankton.

Jack Pederson took the mound in the opener and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five unearned runs due to three Tiger errors. He allowed three hits, walked seven, and struck out two.

Kolby Hofer finished out the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Trace Wenz had a strong game from the leadoff spot, with a pair of doubles, a hit by pitch, and a stolen base out of the leadoff spot. However, despite multiple times in scoring position, he scored just one run, which was part of the issue for the Tigers on the day.

Bubba Peterson had a pair of singles while Kolby Hofer had a double and a walk. Logan Leyendecker added a stolen base.

The Bucks blew open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning and walked away with a 10-0 win in the nightcap.

Brady Feenstra opened the game on the mound, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and five walks, striking out two. Tommie Martin pitched one inning of relief, allowing five runs on three hits, adding one strikeout.

The Tigers offense had just four baserunners all game, with no Huron hitter reach base twice. Feenstra and Oakley Anderson each had a double.

The varsity is off until hosting O’Gorman Saturday, April 26, at noon. The game will be the final home game of the spring season and senior night for the Tigers’ eight seniors.

HURON –– The Huron Tigers junior varsity club took a pair of games against Brookings on Tuesday at Memorial Ballpark.

Huron pushed across the first run of the opening game in the bottom of the third inning and would then score at least one run in each of the next three innings, building a 6-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh. The Bobcats rallied for two runs, but came up short in a 6-2 Huron win.

Nolan Stahly went the distance for Huron, pitching seven innings of 2-run ball, allowing six hits and a walk. He struck out six Brookings hitters.
