Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! This week over 150 students and staff members at Holy Trinity Catholic School crunched into delicious apples picked and donated by Andrea Friedrichsen and her family as part of the Mountain Plains Region Crunch Off competition.
South Dakota competed against seven other states (Colorado, Montana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming) to determine who will be crowned the Mountain Plains Region Crunch Champion by having the most “crunches” into local apples or produce per capita.
This Crunch event encourages healthy eating, supports local agriculture and helps students and community members gain a deeper understanding of the food system.
