HURON – Rep. Bob Glanzer, R-Huron, is announcing his candidacy for re-election to the state House of Representatives representing District 22.
“As a former high school educator, State Fair manager and a commercial banker, I bring an assortment of quality life experiences and a respected expertise to the floor of the Legislature,” he said in his announcement.
“I would respectfully consider it an honor to continue to represent the citizens of District 22,” Glanzer said.

A lifelong resident of central South Dakota and the immediate Beadle County region, he retired in February 2012 from 33 years in the local banking industry as an agricultural loan officer.
Along with his professional careers, Glanzer has been deeply involved in a host of community and organizational activities and events. He is currently serving as the host committee chairman for the 2018-2019 National Junior High Finals Rodeo to be held in Huron.
As State Fair manager beginning in 1975, Glanzer was instrumental in designing and overseeing the financing and construction of the Open Class Beef Complex.
Glanzer said his past career achievements and local community commitments prove his ability to successfully blend his passions and career experiences into the elected office.
The deadline for filing petitions for legislative seats is March 27. For independent candidates, it’s April 24.
