Heartland 2022 Memorial Day programs set

Huron
HURON — The annual Huron Memorial Day program will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30, in the Huron High School Auditorium.

Beadle County Veteran Service Officer Taylor Jans will be the featured speaker and vocalist Frank Palleria is the musical entertainment.

Alpena
ALPENA — The Owen Kunze Alpena Legion Post 116 Memorial Day service is set for 4 p.m. Monday, May 30, at the Alpena Community Center.

The Wolsey American Legion Post 59 will be assisting with the service this year. Please plan on attending. A light lunch after will be provided afterward, with a free-will donation.

Carpenter
CARPENTER — The Carpenter Memorial Day program will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 30, at the Carpenter Methodist Church. Don Mendel of Doland is the featured speaker. Coffee and cookies will be served following the program.

Hitchcock
HITCHCOCK — The Raymond-Hart American Legion and Auxiliary of Hitchcock will be honoring veterans on Monday, May 30, at 11 a.m. with a memorial program at Altoona Cemetary. There will be no meal at the Legion hall afterwards. The Hitchin’ Rail Saloon will serve a meal at noon.

Iroquois
IROQUOIS — The Bensley- Round American Legion Post 280 of Iroquois will host a Memorial Day Program at the Iroquois School South Gym on Monday, May 30, at 10 a.m.

The guest speaker is retired Captain Michael Larson of Mitchell. Also speaking are the Good Citizenship Recipients Natalie Cundy, Rexton Blue, Hannah Hofhenke and Montana Sprong.

Diane Perry will be providing music. A meal will follow at the Iroquois American Legion Hall with freewill donations.

Wolsey
WOLSEY — The Hershman Gordon American Legion Post 79 in Wolsey will host a Memorial Day program Monday at 10 a.m. in the Wolsey Community Center. A potluck will follow the program.

Guest speaker is Shirley Scotter, minister at Wolsey Presbyterian Church.

The Post will also assist with the Memorial Day program planned at 4 p.m. in Alpena.

Virgil
VIRGIL — There will not be a Memorial Day program for the Virgil American Legion No. 268 this year.
