The fifth and sixth I Made a Difference awards were recently presented to (above left) Brooke and Brian Cunard and their daughters Alivia and Adalyn, of 625 13th St. S.W., and (above right) Adam and Cassie Jacobs and their children Adam and Cassie, of 1840 Indiana Ave. S.E.
The Cunards have put new siding on their home, a new roof, front door, front deck, new lofted garage and a white fence around their back yard. They have put so much work into their home and it is beautiful.
The Jacobs bought their home in 2016 when the lawn was only tall weeds, as the home had been unoccupied. Since then, they have replaced the front door and did landscaping around the house. They planted trees, shrubs, added numerous perennials, replaced the rain gutters, added a concrete pad, improved the sprinkler system and stained the back door. This summer they installed a maintenance-free back yard fence for their two children and expanded their off-street parking.
Both families received a flag from VFW Post 1776 and Auxiliary, gift certificates from Dakota Provisions, East River Nursery and Lewis Drug, and a gift from Runnings. The program is sponsored by the Huron Improvement Committee. Nominations can be texted or called to Denise Matson at 605-353-4301, or email noelmatson@hur.midco.net.
