Bilingual business workshop for women set for Wednesday

Posted

HURON — A workshop aimed to assist women in the basics of beginning their own business is set to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the Huron Event Center.

It’s titled the “Estudios Series: Small Business Basics” and will be presented in both English and Spanish.

Attendees will learn the basics of small business and hear tips on building a start-up team. Teams of English and Spanish speaking specialists will make presentations on marketing, real estate, support, business banking, accounting, insurance and business law.

A networking opportunity meal is also on tap at the event.

The event is cooperative effort of the SDCEO Women’s Business Center at Black Hills State University, The Small Business Administration, (SBA), with a huge local assist from the Huron Community Foundation.

HCF’s contribution has made it possible for up to 30 Huron attendees to be part of the event at no cost.

Rhonda Kludt, with the Huron Community Foundation, said that the organization chose to sponsor the event, due to feedback received during the recent Huron Rising 2.0.

“One of the six focus areas that came out of Huron Rising 2.0 is enhancing diversity,” Kludt said, “and we could not think of a more meaningful project than this women’s small business event to align with that feedback. It’s helping our culturally diversity, while also helping women advance in the workforce.”

The SDCEO (Center for Enterprise Opportunity) women’s business center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit partner with the SBA and hosted at Black Hills State. It opened in August of 2021 and has assisted in a dozen new business start ups, impacting more than 900 clients across the state.

The SDCEO Women’s Business Center is seeking investors, to continue providing free business assistance to female entrepreneurs in the state.
