HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce Jackie Kleinsasser, RN, BSN, has been promoted to coordinator of the HRMC emergency department, according to Amy Goergen, vice president of patient services for HRMC.

As coordinator of the emergency room, Kleinsasser is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the emergency and outpatient treatment departments, working with staff, providers and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality emergency and infusion care, close to home.

Kleinsasser also serves as trauma coordinator for HRMC, monitoring trauma services to ensure an organized team approach to the care of trauma patients using quality improvement processes.

“Jackie’s varied experiences as a nurse at HRMC have provided her with the knowledge and skill to effectively lead the ER team,” said Goergen. “Jackie has provided patient care, coordinated trauma services, supervised nursing care and activities as a nursing supervisor, all with sincere investment in the clinical care and experience of the patient.”

Kleinsasser has worked at HRMC over 14 years, most recently as interim leader of the emergency department. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from South Dakota State University. Prior to joining HRMC, she worked as a nurse in critical care units at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn., and also gained experience as a nursing assistant at Tschetter & Hohm Clinic while earning her nursing degree.

“Leading the team of individuals in our emergency department as they provide the vital emergency services our community depends on is a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” said Kleinsasser.

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to continue to work alongside them to ensure we have excellent emergency and trauma care, right here in my hometown community.”

Kleinsasser and her husband, Derik, live on a farm near Woonsocket with their three daughters, Addie, Stella and Lila, and one son, Sully.

In her spare time, Jackie enjoys traveling, supporting her children in their activities, being active in their church, playing nurse to their cattle whenever possible and serving as a foster parent with her husband.
