HURON — The City of Huron’s milling and paving operations for the 2021 construction season is set to begin on Monday in 17 areas throughout the city.
In a notice from Asphalt Paving and Materials of Huron, the contractor for the project, milling is expected to take four or five days to complete.
The day prior to milling operations taking place, no-parking signs will be placed, so that people in the area will know when work is set to begin. Any cars on the street when operations begin will be towed at the owner’s expense and the project streets will be completely blocked off during the actual milling and paving operations.
Asphalt Paving also requests that any sump pump drains that are distributed into the street be rerouted to the residence’s back yard until the street is paved. Likewise, sprinkler systems should not be used during the milling and paving.
Adhering to these requests will speed up the paving process, as the street must be dry before the paving portion of the project may begin.
Milling will begin at 7 a.m. on April 12 and will proceed in this approximate order.
26th Street - From Highway 37 to Frank Avenue.
Idaho Ave. - From 21st to 26th Street.
Frank Ave., - From 21st to 26th Street.
Milling is expected to wrap up by April 16 and paving will begin the following Monday, April 19, and will go in reverse sequence to the milling.
The paving portion of the project is expected to be wrapped up by April 29, weather permitting.
