Wolsey-Wessington 54, Hitchcock-Tulare 25
HURON — Top-seeded Wolsey-Wessington stayed undefeated with a 54-25 victory against No. 8-seeded Hitchcock-Tulare in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Monday at Huron Arena.
The Warbirds, who are now 8-0, outscored Hitchcock-Tulare 21-6 in the opening quarter and led 34-12 at the half.
Payson Gohn and Brevan Hooks had 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead Wolsey-Wessington. Tristan Abbott added eight points.
Gohn also led the Warbirds with nine rebounds, while Hooks had seven assists and Abbott had four steals.
Logan Gilbert led the Patriots, who are now 0-9, with seven points, while Titus Waldner added six points.
Gabe Clark snagged a team-high four rebounds for Hitchcock-Tulare, while Bailey Binger and Alex Clark each had three steals.
Wolsey-Wessington will face Iroquois/Doland in the semifinals today at Huron Arena. Hitchcock-Tulare will play Sunshine Bible Academy in the consolation semifinals today at the JVC gym.

Highmore-Harrold 54, Wessington Springs 51
HURON — Sixth-seeded Highmore-Harrold held on for a 54-51 victory against third-seeded Wessington Springs to earn its second win of the season in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Monday at the James Valley Christian gym.
The Pirates, who improved to 2-6, trailed 37-30 at the half, but limited the Spartans to just four points in the third quarter to carry a 43-41 lead in the final quarter.

Remmy Paynter had a game-high 16 points to lead Highmore-Harrold, while Carter LaMont also reached double figures with 10 points. Dylan McDonnell and Grady Aasby addd nine and eight points, respectively.
Paytner also had team-high totals with eight rebounds and four steals for the Pirates. McDonnell had eight assists.
Dylan Schimke and Jacob Messmer each had 12 points for Wessington Springs, while Tyler Kole and Mason Schelske each added nine points.
Messmer led the way with 11 rebounds for the Spartans, while Kole and Lane Olinger each had two assists.
Highmore-Harrold will face second-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the semfinals today at Huron Arena. Wessington Springs will battle James Valley Christian in the consolation semifinals at the JVC gym today.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 55, James Valley Christian 40
HURON - The second-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks struggled out of the gate against seventh-seeded James Valley Christian, but they pulled away in the second half en route to a 55-40 victory in 281 Conference Tournament action Monday.
The Blackhawks moved to 6-4 on the season with the victory behind a big night from Noah Dickson, who tied for the game high with 16 points and also had a game-high 12 rebounds. Malachi Bruce added 12 points, including nine points on three 3-point baskets in the third quarter as Sanborn Central/Woonsocket pulled away.
The Vikings fell to 0-8 on the year despite a 16-point effort from Rich Rink. Rink also led the team with eight rebounds.
James Valley Christian will take on third-seeded Wessington Springs in the consolation bracket on Tuesday. The Blackhawks face sixth-seeded Highmore-Harrold in the championship bracket.

Iroquois/Doland 55, Sunshine Bible Academy 54
HURON - Fourth-seeded Iroquois/Doland held on for a one-point overtime victory over fifth-seeded Sunshine Bible Academy 55-54 in first-round action of the 281 Conference Tournament on Monday at the James Valley Christian gym.
The game was one of swings, as Sunshine Bible Academy came out with a 14-7 lead after the first quarter, only to find the score tied at 25-25 heading into half. Brandon Decker scored 11 of his 13 points in the third quarter for the Chiefs as they took a 42-33 lead into the final frame, only to have the score knotted at 47 at the end of regulation.
Iroquois/Doland bumped their record to 3-3 with the win behind three scorers in double digits. Keistan Dubro and Reilyn Zavesky each scored 16 points while Decker pitched in 13. Dubro also grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Chiefs.
The Crusaders were led by a big effort from their big man inside as Jade Burma scored 21 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. They fell to 2-6 on the season with the tough loss.
Iroquois/Doland moves on to face top seed Wolsey-Wessington on Tuesday while Sunshine Bible Academy will play Hitchcock-Tulare in the consolation bracket.
