The Huron All Stars boys’ varsity team recorded back-to-back wins over the weekend, with a 7-1 victory over the Cougars on Friday in Aberdeen, before the All Stars swept the Miracle, 11-2, in Yankton on Saturday.
On Friday, Aberdeen recorded the first shot in the net, but it was all Huron from there on, with Rei Hoops scoring in the first period, assisted by Tanner Berquist.
In the second period, Xavier Erickson shot the puck in the net with an assist from Izaiah Phillips. Jayden Bogh then scored on a power play with the help of Carson Duba, then took another point for Huron at the end of the second.
Duba, assisted by Erickson and Berquist, scored on a power play to open the third, Cody Ruedebusch then made his first goal of the game with assists from Suba and Lucas Snyder. The last shot in the net was made by Berquist, assisted by Phillips and Hoops, to end the third period.
On Saturday, Huron had three goals in the first period, while the Miracle edged one in to get a point on the board. Phillips was assisted by Erickson and Matthew Voss in a power play, followed by an Erickson shot with the help of Berquist and Phillips, while the period ended with a Duba shot, assisted by Payton Cass.
Snyder opened the second period scoring with the help of Duba and Ruedebusch, then Phillips took the second and last shot of the third, assisted by Erickson and Jayden Both.
Huron scored six goals in the last period, while one more by Yankton to end the game at 11-2 in favor of the All Stars. Duba sent the puck in the net with an assist from Snyder, Cass scored on a power play with the help of Duba and Snyder, while Erickson claimed another goal, assisted by Phillips before the three minute mark of the period.
Duba made his final shot of the game assisted by Erickson who then scored with the help of Cast, before Ruedebusch ended the scoring with the last shot, assisted by Snyder.
Huron will travel to Watertown on Friday for more hockey action from the All Stars.
