HURON — Dakotaland Federal Credit Union recently honored several area youth with $5,000 in College Scholarships for the 2017-18 school year. Each recipient completed a written application and submitted an essay highlighting the positive changes they would make in their communities if given the opportunity. Those submissions were judged by a scholarship committee made up of 10 individuals. “Our scholarship applicants and their list of accomplishments were just short of amazing. We have every reason to be proud of our area credit union youth. This year’s judging process proved to be just as challenging as previous years, but also generated a number of record scores,” said scholarship committee member and Member Services Representative, Colleen Knutson of the Volga Branch Office.
The following winners were each awarded $1,000 to use toward their continued education:
• Paul “Trey” Joseph Cosato, III from Redfield will graduate from Redfield High School and be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, majoring in computer science or economics.
