Bigge Piano Studio presents recital

HURON — Students of Beverly Bigge presented two “Back to School” piano recitals at Hope Lutheran Church on Sept. 26.

An awards ceremony followed each recital.

Isabel Gilbert was awarded the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) third gold cup in Piano Solo. She received nine consecutive superior ratings.

Sarah Fuerst received the second gold cup in Piano Solo. She received six consecutive superior ratings.

First gold cups were awarded in Piano Solo: Anna Arhart; and Piano Duet: Alexandra Hohm, Audri Hohm, Elaina Hohm,  

Students receiving the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Study award for five or more years of study included: 5 years: Anna Arhart, Hadassah Helkenn, Alexandra Hohm and Audri Hohm; 6 years: Cameron Cutshaw, Jordyn Cutshaw and Jonathan Koel; 7 years: Maggie Decker, Sarah Fuerst and Elaina Hohm; 8 years: Kate Hamilton; Nine years: Victoria Larson, Joy Trautman and Jed Waldner; 10 years: Isabel Gilbert, McKenzie Hofer and Abby Trandall

Joy Trautman was recognized for being selected to the SD High School All-State Jazz Band for piano.  

Students who received NFMC certificates for SUPERIOR PLUS ratings at the Junior Music Festival included Maggie Decker, Hadassah Helkenn, Joy Trautman, in Piano Solo and Alexandra Hohm/Audri Hohm in Piano Duet.

SUPERIOR ratings in Piano Solo: Anna Arhart, Wyatt Arhart, Avery Ashbaugh, Cameron Cutshaw, Sarah Fuerst, Logan Gerrits, Isabel Gilbert, Kate Hamilton, Hadassah Helkenn, McKenzie Hofer, Alexandra Hohm, Audri Hohm, Elaina Hohm, Jonathan Koel, Emmersyn McGillvrey, Maria Porter, Abby Trandall, Jed Waldner; Piano Duet: Elaina Hohm/ Jonathan Koel; Piano Hymn: Kate Hamilton, Hadassah Helkenn.

Studio “Achievement of Practice Goals” awards included Anna Arhart, Wyatt Arhart, Maggie Decker, Kate Hamilton, Hadassah Helkenn, Jonathan Koel, Maeve Magness, Maria Porter and Joy Trautman.

The studio “Memorization Excellence Award” was presented to Hadassah Helkenn. Other gold winners were Anna Arhart and Maria Porter.

The high school senior in the studio for the 2020-2021 school year was Jordyn Cutshaw, daughter of James and Debbie Cutshaw of Huron.

Bigge is a nationally certified teacher of music with the Music Teachers National Association and maintains a private studio in Huron.
