SIOUX FALLS – Elizabeth Boschee of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket ran a 49.78 time in the 300 hurdles finals Saturday at the Class “A” state track meet at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
Boschee’s time was good for eighth in the race, which was won by Ashlan Carlow of Red Cloud in 45.73 seconds, the first individual state track title in the history of Red Cloud.
Berkeley Engelland of Mount Vernon/Plankinton continued her dominance Saturday, winning individual titles in the 100, 200, and 400 after winning the 800-meter run on Friday. However, her efforts were not enough for the Titans, who placed second in the girls’ team points race to Sioux Falls Christian.
The Chargers far outpaced the field with 126.5 points. Mount Vernon/Plankinton finished with 68.5 points. Custer came in third with 49, Sioux Valley had 46, and West Central totaled 41 points.
Miller achieved nine team points and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket tallied one team point.
As dominant as the Charger girls were, the Sioux Falls Christian boys dominated the field even further. The Chargers won the team title with 153 points, with Custer (45 points) and West Central (42 points) finishing second and third.
