HURON — The Huron Area Quilt Guild will hold a “Collage Quilt Class,” beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at the Huron Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 688 Dakota SW. (Parking available East of the Church. Use the south double glass doors on the East side of the Church.) Lunch will be provided.
The class will be led by Robin and Lori from Quilter’s Corner in Faulkton.
A Collage Quilt is designed on a foundation piece of fabric. Small, colorful pieces of fabric are adhered to the foundation fabric as the quilt pattern becomes a reality. The collage quilter can be flexible and creative while designing the quilt. Patterns will be available at the class and some supplies will be available at the Church the day of the class. A list of supplies needed is also available.
Contact Sandy Kissner, 352-1587, for more information and to register for the class.
Attendees are welcome to bring sewing machines, with extension cord. Collage quilts will be started during the class, but finished after. There will be examples on display.
All kinds of fabric prints and scraps can be used in collage quilts, bring fabric scraps that might include flowers, animals, seashells, sewing supplies, solids, imagination is the limit. Bring normal items needed for a sewing/quilting project. Other items such as rulers, cutting mats, and irons will be provided.
