Day of Action

HURON — June 21 - considered the longest day of the year - was a day of volunteering for numerous people in Huron. Dozens of people turned up at the Huron Middle School for the annual United Way Heartland Region’s Day of Action, and invested a short period of time volunteering to read books to students on Wednesday morning.
“It’s a day to make a difference — a day to impact our community,” said UWHR director Rhonda Kludt. “Improving education is a community responsibility.” The Day of Action is also an encouragement to participants to volunteer at a local school.

Clockwise, starting on the right are readers Jennifer Palmer, Margo Anderson and State Senator Jim White, who were among those reading to students.
