Holy Trinity Catholic School’s second-graders celebrated Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthday this week. The students worked on slates and enjoyed activities such as making toys from buttons and string, plus playing Hide the Thimble. A lesson on how to make corn husk dolls was given before a picnic lunch in the classroom. The second-graders read Laura’s books all year as well as taking a field trip to De Smet in the spring to tour both the museum and the Homestead.
