Huron cheer and dance teams compete in Watertown Invitational

WATERTOWN — The Huron dance team inked a second place finish overall, falling short to Sioux Falls Washington in first place, during the Tigers’ second competition of the season at the Watertown Invitational held on Tuesday.
The Tigers took second place with their pom and hip-hop routines at 243.5 in pom, but tallied 261.5 in hip-hop as their strongest performance of the day. Sioux Falls Washington finished first in both the pom and hip-hop categories, with 285.5 and 284.5 tallied for their routines.
In the jazz category, Huron finished in fourth with a 261.5 score, while a total of 257 put Brandon Valley in the lead. Sioux Falls Washington took second place at a 250 score.
In the cheer competition Huron tallied a score of 202, but had six deductions, which put the Tigers in fourth place. First place in cheer was the Sioux Falls O’Gorman team with 259.50 and five deductions, followed by Sioux Valley with two deductions and an overall 250.50, while a score of 224.50 and being the only team with no deductions, put Sioux Falls Washington in third place.
Cheer and dance competitions continue for the Huron teams at the Pierre Invitational, which begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
