HURON — Huron swept James Valley Christian with a 9-0 victory during the Tigers’ second game of the season, in Class “AA” varsity boys’ soccer on Friday afternoon at the Tiger Stadium.
“We had a great game today,” said boys’ soccer coach Leah Branaugh. “Anytime you can get a shut out and limit the other team to under five shots is a great day.”
The Tigers’ caught fire early in the game, scoring four goals in the first 20 minutes of play, with another shot in the net to send them into half time with a 5-0 lead. Six of the Huron boys were able to send the ball passed the Vikings’ goalie, with assists from two players and three more team members contributed with saves.
“One of our defenders, Ka Per Kaw, shot and made a goal from about 35 yards out,” Branaugh said. “Carson Duba led the way with two assists and turned some great passes into not only goals for us, but shot attempts.”
Midfielder Eduardo Trujillo had a good game as he scored his first goal of the season, had an assist and made a save in the second half of the game, while Baht Khin and Eh Bleh both stopped a Vikings’ shot with a save also. Rogelio Sanchez Perez, Ka Per Kaw, Angelo Pa Kae and Thai Say all made two goals, while Baht Eh Khin and Trujillo added one each en route to the win.
