BROOKINGS — The Huron Pee Wee A hockey team used a pair of upsets to claim the consolation champions during the Pee Wee A State Tournament, which concluded Sunday in Brookings.
After closing the regular season with a 10-3 run, the seventh-seeded All-Stars opening the tournament with a 12-1 setback against second-seeded Brookings, which would go on to win the state title.
Huron would meet sixth-seeded Mitchell, a team it had lost to twice during the regular season, in the consolation semifinals on Saturday.
Grady Bott tallied a hat trick in the opening period to help the All-Stars to a 3-2 advantage, but late goal by Mitchell forced overtime.
