ABERDEEN — The Huron 14U team went 4-1 to claim second place in the region tournament and a berth in the South Dakota Class A VFW Teener Baseball Tournament.
The Tigers, who were seeded third in the 5-team field, opened the region tournament with a 15-5 victory against fourth-seeded Pierre.
Caden McNeil and Johnny Hernandez each had a pair of hits for the Tigers. Hernandez drove in three runs, while Steven DeGeest had a pair of RBIs. Max Kranzler pitched 4 1/3 innings to earn the win, with four strikeouts.
Top-seeded Brookings handed Huron its only setback in the second game with a 20-10 decision.
Hernandez recorded three hits for the Tigers, while Peyton Grace and DeGeest each had a pair of walks.
Huron rebounded from the loss with a 10-7 win against second seeded Aberdeen.
