BROOKINGS — After three overtimes, the Huron eighth-grade football team escaped with a 44-38 victory against Brookings on Tuesday.
Ty Kleinsasser had touchdown runs of five, seven and 10 yards for the Tigers, who improved to 2-2. Tyce Huber had touchdown receptions of 10 and eight yards, respectively, from Jeremy Hofer and Anderson Porisch.
Chase Schuchhardt also had a 6-yard touchdown reception from Porisch.
Porisch finished 7 of 11 passing for 121 yards and also had 138 yards on 11 carries. Kleinsasser led the rushing attack with 159 yards on 17 carries. Huber had four catches fo 61 yards, while Schuchhardt hauled in a pair of passes for 51 yards.
Defensively, Porisch had nine tackles and four sacks, while Cooper Bischoff had seven tackles. Cordin Caudell and Hofer had five and four tackles, respectively.
Brookings emerged with a 6-0 win in the B-game.
Hofer rushed for 89 yards on 13 carries for the Tigers, while Mason Hunter had seven carries for 44 yards.
Dawson Jones had six tackles for Huron (0-4), while Mason Hunter and Lucas Chaparro-Harms each had four tackles.
The Huron eighth-graders will travel to play Aberdeen on Oct. 11.
