Posted

STURGIS — The Huron wrestling team faced a pair of the top teams in the state on Friday night and coach Dan McCarty was happy with the way his team performed.
Sturgis edged the Tigers 33-32, while Rapid City Central recorded a 46-18 victory.
“They both were really good matches,” McCarty said. “The kids wrestled hard. I am happy with the way we competed.”

Newcomer TahJae Jenkins Harris highlighted the night for Huron by defeating defending state champion Bailey Brengle of Sturgis 1-0 at 152 pounds.
“Really all of our wrestlers had good matches,” McCarty said.
The Tigers will remain West River for the Rapid City Invitational today and Saturday. The event will feature some of the top teams from South Dakota, Wyoming and North Dakota.
“We want the kids to go out and wrestle hard to find out what we need to be working on,” McCarty said.
Following the Rapid City Invitational Huron will make its home debut on Thursday against Brookings.
Results from both of Friday’s matches can be found in the Sports Stats section.
