Dale Tjarks of Flandreau was a first-team All-State basketball player at Flandreau High School, before playing collegiately at Huron College, graduating in 1977 after scoring 1,000 points and earning SDIC all-conference honors. After college, Tjarks played professionally in Europe for the Exeter, England team for three years. Following his professional career, Dale played amateur basketball from 1980 through 2006, for teams from Flandreau, Colman, Dell Rapids, Salem-Montrose, White, and Hayti.
Kevin Burckhard of Aberdeen, played high school basketball at Lakota High School in Lakota, N.D., where he earned All-state honors in 1989. Burckhard played two years at Lake Region College, where he was an All-Conference player and finished as the school’s second all-time leading scorer, before transferring to Northern State University in 1992.  At Northern, Kevin earned All-conference and All-American honors, and was part of the National championship runner up teams in 1993 and 1994.
Tjarks will be inducted during the first round games Saturday evening, with Burckhard being honored during the championship session on Sunday.
