IROQUOIS — The Sports Day Committee selected American Bank and Trust of Iroquois as Business of the Year. The bank and its employees contribute greatly to the Iroquois community throughout the year.
At this year’s Sports Day event, ABT donated money to purchase food for the Friday community picnic and band concert in Woodall City Park. Approximately 150 people attended the picnic event. They also contributed to the fireworks fund for the Saturday night show.
Deb and Stuart Magsam were chosen Volunteers of the Year. Deb is currently the president of the Iroquois Area Community Club. They are both active in church and community service.
A special plaque was given to Dennis Augenbaugh in memory of his wife, Gerri, to recognize her many years of Sports Day planning and participation and her community volunteer service. She was a positive force in the community helping wherever she could. Her efforts to improve the city park helped with the purchase of new playground equipment.
Parade winners were first place, Iroquois Trinity United Methodist Church; second place, Huff and Puff Sheep Shearing; and taking third was the Iroquois Heritage Museum.
