JVC volleyball team loses to Lake Preston

HURON — After suffering a lopsided-loss in the opening set, James Valley Christian’s volleyball team regrouped and gave Lake Preston a run for its money in the next two sets on Tuesday at the JVC gym.
The Lady Divers cruised to a 25-12 victory in the first set, escaped with a 25-23 win in the second set and needed a 26-24 win in the third set to close the match with a sweep.
Meriah Flegel was 16 of 17 serving with a pair of aces for Lake Preston, while Olivia Christensen was 18 of 19 serving with an ace and Rylie Brown was 11 of 12 serving with an ace.
Christensen and Brown also led the offensive attack for the Lady Divers with four kills each. Lindsay Hillestad had three kills.
Brown recorded four of the seven blocks in the match for Lake Preston, while Hillestad had a pair of blocks. Flegel recorded a team-high 21 digs.
Bekah Williams was the top server for JVC, going 12 of 15 and was a team-best 92 of 106 setting.
