HURON — The Madison Bulldogs edged the Huron Tigers in a gymnastics dual Thursday night, 141.95 to 132.05, at the Tiger Activity Center.
“The Tigers had a good night in the gym,” said Huron coach Julie King. Erica (Zell) had her best night. She and Kassie Decker and Emily Lord all had great beam routines.”
Madison’s Jenni Giles earned top scores in all four events for the Bulldogs, en route to the All-Around title, garnering scores of 9.3 in the Vault, 9.2 on the Uneven Parallel Bars, 9.65 on the Balance Beam and 9.6 on Floor Exercise, for a total of 37.750.
Huron’s Erica Zell was right behind, with a total of 36.0, as she finished second on Bars, Beam and Floor for the Tigers. Zell took fourth place in the Vault.
Other Tiger top-10 placers included Sarah Christenson, who finished seventh in Vault, 10th in Bars and tied for eighth in Floor, and was 8th in the All-Around.
Emily Lord was sixth in All-Around, powered by a fourth-place finish in Beam, a tie for eighth in Floor, and a sixth-place finish in Bars.
Kassie Decker was seventh in All-Around, as she was 10th in in Vault and took third in the Balance Beam and sixth in Floor.
Kaitlyn King was fifth in Floor for Huron and tied for 10th in Beam.
“The Tigers rocked the floor tonight,” King said. “Erica had a clean routine and Kaitlyn posted her personal best in floor to earn a medal. I thought we just really looked great in floor. Kassie, Emily and Sarah (Christenson) all posted great scores.”
Huron returns to action on Saturday, when it travels to the Watertown Invitational.
“I also thought that the JV girls did a great job tonight,” King added. Jaci Bankston, Leah Pyle, Jamee Kattner, Chloe Flolo and Caily Coss all did great.”
