Huron Middle School volleyball teams compete against Pierre

HURON — The Huron seventh-grade volleyball teams swept Pierre on Monday.
Hylton Heinz was 20 of 20 serving with six aces to help the Tigers to set wins of 25-15 and 25-11 in the A-match.
Taryn Cass was 7 of 7 serving with three aces, while Jencie Goergen was 3 of 5 with two aces. Aly Davis was 7 of 9 with an ace and Hailey Rogers was 4 of 5 with an ace.
Chloe Carr was perfect on seven attacks with two kills for Huron, while Goergen also had two kills on 6 of 6 hitting. Heinz and Davis were both 3 of 3 with a kill.
The Tigers used set scores of 25-11 and 25-18 to get past Pierre in the B-match.
Olivia Thompson led Huron with three aces on 11 of 12 serves.
Jeselyn Matthews was 8 of 10 serving with an ace, while Rogers was 6 of 6 with an ace and Libby Heyer was 4 of 6 with an ace.
Thompson had a kill for the Tigers on 1 of 3 hitting, while Hannah Ferguson was 2 of 3 attacking. Matthews and Kyla Peskey were both 1 of 1 hitting.
Huron will travel to face Watertown on Thursday.
Eighth grade
Huron improved to 3-7 with a 2-1 win against Pierre in the A-match. The set scores were 23-25, 25-18 and 15-9.
Roxy Glanzer had six kills on 7 of 9 attacks for the Tigers. Samantha Mangmoradeta was 2 of 2 hitting with two kills and Alexis Ziegeldorf had two kills on 2 of 3 spikes.
Maddie Jurgens recorded nine aces on 13 of 17 serves, while Ziegeldorf had three aces on 9 of 10 serves and Hannah Purintun had three aces on 7 of 8 serves. Jurgens also had 14 assists.
The Lady Govs won the B-match with set scores of 25-20 and 25-10.
Madelyn Grace was 4 of 6 serving with an ace for Huron (2-8), while Keira Graff was 3 of 4 with an ace and Aurora Dreyer was 2 of 3 with an ace. Dreyer also had a kill on 1 of 2 attacks.
Huron will travel to face Watertown on Thursday.
