Members of the Huron Fire Department raised $6,774.69 for the Salvation Army while ringing bells and stopping motorists for donations on Dakota Avenue on Dec. 15. Huron Fire Chief Howard Alter holds the check with Salvation Army Corps Officer Captain Leanna Tuttle. The Huron Fire Department began ringing bells on Dakota Avenue for the Salvation Army in 1960, and over the past 57 years have raised more than $100,000 for the Salvation Army to help people in this area.
