Rotert elected to SDHSGCA Hall of Fame

HURON — Huron Activities Director Terry Rotert will be one of three individuals inducted into the South Dakota High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame as the 2024 Class.

Also being inducted are Jim Pearson of Sisseton and Kirk Hogen of Vermillion.

Rotert served as the boys’ golf coach in Huron from 1991-2008 and was girls’ golf coach for the Tigers from 1992-1998 and 2002-2008.

During his tenure, Troter led the Tigers to a runner-up finish the the 2002 Class AA State Tournament. They finished third in 1996 and 2008, while taking fourth in 2007 and sixth in 2007.

Huron won Eastern South Dakota Conference championship sin 1993-1995 and was Region 3AA champs in 1993.

Rotert coach numerous individual conference champions and all-state golfers. He was the SDHSCA Athletic Director of the Year twice (2019-2020 and 2023-2024), while earning the SDIAAA Award of Merit in 2019 and the SDHSAA Distinguished Service Award in 2022-2023.

Rotert was a member of the South Dakota Golf Association Board of Directors from 2008-2013. He also served on the SDHSAA Golf Advisory Board from 2016-2022; hosted six Class AA and one Class B boys’ and girls’ state golf tournaments; was a member of the SDHSAA Board of Directors from 2021-2022; and was on the Broadland Creek Golf Commission from 2008-2014.

Rotert will be enshrined during the Class AA State Girls’ Golf Tournament on June 4 at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton.

Hogens’ presentation will be at the Class A State Tournament at Bakker Crossing in Sioux Falls, while Pierson’s will be at the Class B State Tournament at the Brookings Country Club.
