SIOUX FALLS — Sanborn Central-Woonsocket’s Myah Selland added some more hardware to her trophy case on Sunday, when she was named as South Dakota’s Miss Basketball during the Hansen Anderson Mr. and Miss Basketball Banquet.
Selland, a 6-foot-1 senior, has helped the Lady Blackhawks to a 131-22 record since joining the varsity team in the seventh grade. She finished her high school career with a school record of 2,219 points, 961 rebounds and 532 assists.
“It is a great honor for a very deserving player. She has put in a lot of hard work over her high school career and she has reaped the benefits with this award as well as others,” Sanborn Central-Woonsocket co-coach Tim McCain said. “With all of her stats that were impressive, it was her leadership that made our Blackhawk program as successful as it was. We wish her the best as she takes these talents to South Dakota State University in next year.”
Selland capped her high school career by leading the Lady Blackhawks to a runner-up finish in the Class B State Tournament. It was the fifth state tournament appearance for the team during her tenure.
