When entering any of Huron’s Corner Pantry stores, you might notice a bit of green on the walls, especially at the D & S location at 275 Lincoln Avenue Southwest. Manager, Beth Schneider and her crew of five have sold close to 2000 Shamrocks with all the proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy foundation.
Parent company, M.G. Oil Company, has held this charitable event as a competition between their stores for the last few years. Based in Rapid City, the company owns more than 70 operations in South Dakota and Wyoming, including fivelocations in Huron. The top stores will win t-shirts and of course, bragging rights.
According to MDA.org. Muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. In muscular dystrophy, abnormal genes (mutations) interfere with the production of proteins needed to form healthy muscle.
