HURON — The Tea Area Lady Titans are headed to the first state tournament in program history, as they powered past the

Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers 62-37 in a SoDak 16 game Thursday evening at Huron Arena.

The Lady Titans, the sixth seed in Class A, held a one-point lead after one quarter, but hit the jets in the second quarter, outscoring Mobridge-Pollock 20-4 in the second period and were never threatened.

The Lady Tigers had no answer for the Tea Area senior twin towers of 6-foot, 1-inch Katie Vasecka and 5-11 Mara Grant.

Grant scored 22 points and had nine rebounds, while Vasecka scored 18 points and claimed 15 boards. Ellie Clayberg and Haidyn West each chipped in 10 points to the dominant Lady Titan victory and Clayberg added five assists for good measure.

Mobridge-Pollock got 11 points from Charley Henderson and 10 from Tegan Konold, while Heidi Olson was credited with nine rebounds. The Lady Tigers end the season with a record of 17-5.

Tea Area will take a record of 19-4 into next week’s Class “A” State Tournament in Brookings.
