HURON — The Huron boys’ tennis team earnED its first win of the season during a quadrangular meet on Saturday at Huron Courts.
The victory for the Tigers came with a 5-4 decision.
Huron opened the event with a 9-0 setback against state-powerhouse Sioux Falls Lincoln and then suffered a 6-3 setback against Watertown.
“I thought the boys played very well today.” Huron coach Tim Hedblom said.
“Overall, I think we had a good day.”
Landon Claeys went 2-1 in No. 4 singles for the Tigers on Saturday, while Tyler Sterrett at No. 3, Brenden Schlader at No. 5 and Reese Uecker at No. 6 earned Eastern South Dakota Conference wins against Pierre.
“Landon Claeys had a great day picking up two conference wins,” Hedblom said. “Tyler, Brenden and Reese had some good wins against Pierre today.”
Schlader and Uecker also combined to earn a pair of wins at No. 3 doubles for the Tigers.
Huron heads right back into action on Monday, when it travels to face Harrisburg in an Eastern South Dakota Conference match.
