HURON — The Tigers’ winning streak continues with the team’s fifth victory in a row, as Huron recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Yankton Gazelles on Thursday night during the homecoming volleyball match at Huron Arena.
Set scores for the Tigers were 25-12, 25-15, 25-15, to improve their season record to 9-2, while the Gazelles fell to 1-11 with the loss.
Huron’s Hollee Niehus ruled the court, early in the first set with a pair of kills and back to back aces. A kill was made by Mikenna Moore to open up the scoreboard, while an Alaina Dale kill in the opening minutes of the match added to a strong start for the Tigers.
Yankton took an early time out, at a 7-3 lead for Huron. On return, a Niehus ace plus a Moore kill shot shook the Gazelles, hindering them from gaining points.
The Gazelles suffered a rocky start with a serving error as well as Huron’s competitive techniques, but Maddie Hochstein answered for Yankton with the first kill for the team.
